I'll have to think about her hypothesis that the Democrats are as much a part of the sexual counter-revolution as the GOP and the fundamentalists, but my first thought is that she's correct.

There are several Dem congress critters out there who consistently vote against women. Some of them even stay at that C st Fellowship place. (Stupak ring any bells? Hopefully the Dems will wise up and pull their cavemen back into the 21st century.)

One out of two of us lives in a community where it is legal to fire a woman because she is a lesbian, or to refuse to rent a house to a man because he is gay. The Defense of Marriage Act denies married gay couples the economic benefits our government bestows on married straight couples. Women make 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, and only 18 Fortune 500 companies are run by women, a gap many experts attribute more to the lack of public support for mothers in the workforce than to gender discrimination in the boardroom. The U.S. is one of only nine nations that doesn't provide universal paid maternity leave.

The battle for civil rights is not 'history', it is 'current events'.

Stupak is gone. As are most of the Blue Dogs in the wake of the 2010 Rise of the Teabaggers.

Oh, and I won't blame the Pill. I'll blame the knuckle draggers who are against the Pill and women controlling their lives in general.
